MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS
January 28, 2013

      1.  Acceptance of Minutes

Motion was made by Beverly Kenniston and seconded by Jim Dillon.  It was voted to approve the minutes of December 17, 2012.
       
      2.    The Seasons at Salisbury Condominiums

Bill Lee, Art Bodwell and Ira Gregerman meet with the Board of Assessors.  They are residents of the Seasons at Salisbury Condominiums and are concerned with rising real estate tax bills over the last two years.  The assessment process and real estate sales of condominiums sold in 2011 at the Seasons were discussed.  The assessors encourage property owners to review assessment data available on the Town Web Site and to contact the assessors’ office for additional information or assessment concerns.

       3.   Real Estate Abatement Applications

The Board of Assessors reviewed real estate abatements.  Abatements were granted to the following properties:

Map 210, Parcel 527, 53 Harvest Circle, revised assessment $397,800
Map 184, Parcel 6, 24 Joel Scott Drive, revised assessment $272,000
Map 210, Parcel 529, 47 Harvest Circle, revised assessment $332,300
Map 100, Parcel 71, 15 Causeway Street, revised assessment $199,600
Map 8, Parcel 7, 395 Sterling Road, revised assessment $299,000
Map 210, Parcel 560, 9 Blossom Square, revised assessment $325,100
Map 132, Parcel 504, 8 Scott Terrace, revised assessment $211,700
Map 210, Parcel 547, 37 Harvest Circle, revised assessment $331,100

Real estate abatements were denied on the following properties:

Map 174, Parcel 38, 81 Malden Street
Map 220, Parcel 41, Chapin Road
Map 210, Parcel 503, 5 Seasons Drive
 

     4    White Oak Land Conservation Society, Inc.

Forms 3ABC and 1B-3 filed by White Oak Land Conservation Society, Inc. for land purchased on Summer Lane, Winter Hill Road, and Autumn Circle were reviewed.  This land will be put on the tax exempt rolls for Fiscal Year 2014.


     5    Principal Assessor To Retire

Mrs. Beverly Potvin Kenniston will be retiring as Principal Assessor after more than 31 years of working for the Town of Holden.  Her retirement date is February 28, 2013.  The Board thanked Mrs. Kenniston for her years of service.  A retirement reception will be held in her honor on February 12, 2013 in Memorial Hall from 4:00-6:00 PM.  

      6.    Next Meeting Date

No meeting will be held in the month of February.  The next meeting will be scheduled at a later date after reorganization of the board.
