Interested in becoming a Call FF/EMT?

The Holden Fire Department reviews applications 2 times a year and will hold a formal hiring process at that time.  Applications received will be kept until the next hiring process is scheduled.

The requirements for becoming an On-Call Firefighter/EMT are:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Be a Holden resident or live in a neighborhood which is contiguous to the Holden town line and within a reasonable distance to either of our stations.
  3. Successfully pass a medical physical examination (coordinated through the Fire Department).
  4. Successfully pass the state physical abilities test (coordinated through the Fire Department).
  5. Attend the Massachusetts Fire Academy Call/Volunteer program and successfully obtain certification as Firefighter (coordinated through the Fire Department).
  6. Be a Massachusetts certified Emergency Medical Technician or obtain the certification within 2 years of appointment.

**State law prohibits the use of all tobacco products by firefighters.**

The Holden Fire Department provides training for department members annually.  Along with fire training, the department also trains department members in CPR, Hazmat and EMT continuing education.
