Fire Prevention/Inspections

-A A +A

The Holden Fire Department's Fire Prevention Division coordinates inspections, permits, and public education aspects of the department, as well as all investigative functions relative to the cause of fires. This Division is also responsible for all plan reviews. Fire Prevention personnel conduct quarterly inspections of all health care facilities and fire drills in all schools four times per year. Approximately 1,200-1,400 permits are issued per year.

Plans for new construction and renovations are reviewed by the Fire Prevention Division to ensure that they are in compliance with MGL Chapter 148 and 527 CMR, the fire prevention regulations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Fire Prevention office is open during normal business hours. If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Chief Sean Smith at 508-210-5650.

Selling your home? Please refer to the  Residential Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Guidelines (version 2016). It is also useful to use the following Checklist for Certificate of Compliance to ensure you have all of the required items prior to scheduling your appointment. Please remember, house numbers are required by law.

To schedule an inspection for a Certificate of Compliance, please contact the Fire Administration Office at 508-210-5650. The fee for a Certificate of Compliance is $25 in exact cash or check made payable to: The Town of Holden.
