Planning & Development Office

The Office of Planning & Development encompasses building inspection, health, planning, economic development, zoning, and conservation. The Office of Planning & Development is responsible for providing technical support to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Economic Development Commission and Zoning Study Committee, and the Town Manager's Office regarding planning and growth management issues in Holden. The Department's aim is to increase the overall coordination of development goals among planning, inspection and health services, and to streamline and facilitate the process of issuing permits and licenses.

The Office of Planning & Development provides technical and administrative support to the Planning Board, the Conservation Commission, the Board of Health, the Economic Development Commission, the Historic District Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Department also administers the Town wide trash and recycleable materials collection program which serves almost 5,700 residences. The Town of Holden collects more than 6,250 tons of trash and more than 1,500 tons of recycleable materials.
