Tuesday, June 6 … Prescription Advantage Information Session … 10:00 a.m.  This important information session is being held at the Rutland Public Library.  Everything you need to know about Prescription Advantage will be presented.  A representative will be there to meet one on one to answer questions or help elders enroll in the program.  Call the Rutland Senior Center at 508-886-8830 to reserve your seat and determine if there’s supporting documentation you would need to bring.

Thursday, June 8 …   Pen Pal Farewell Party … 1:30 p.m.   Our end of the year Pen Pal party will be held here at the Senior Center. Buses will bring the children here.  We are asking the Senior Pen Pals to arrive early or car pool with a friend as parking will be at a premium.  There will be no refreshments per order of the school department.  We will be giving each child a gift, so we are asking the elders to please refrain from bringing one.  We’d like to thank the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging for providing the gifts and sponsoring the transportation for the children.

Monday, June 12 … Concert … 1:00 p.m.  … Emma Rifflemacher, Holden resident and talented soloist, will perform here at the Senior Center.  Emma will entertain you with Broadway tunes, standard favorites you love and contemporary songs as well.  Refreshments will be served.  The concert is free and open to all.

Wednesday, June 21 … The Story of Mary Rowlandson 1:00 p.m. … Mary White Rowlandson was a colonial American woman who was captured during an attack by Native Americans during King Philip's War and held for ransom for 11 weeks and 5 days.  Rowlandson wrote “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson.”  Local storyteller Katie Greene will be here to share Mary's story with us. The program is free and open to all and is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging.  Please call 508-210-5570 to reserve a seat.

A HUGE THANK YOU

A very big thank you to Wayne Howard, John Woodsmall, DPW Director, Ryan Mouradian, Water and Sewer Superintendent and Christopher DeMoranville, DPW Supervisor of Operations for pitching in to help with the preparation, serving and cleaning-up at last week’s lunch for Veterans.   Our usual DPW helpers were busy getting the town spruced up for Memorial Day so the administrative people stepped up.  Also, thank you to my husband Scott who dropped what he was doing to help as well.

BUTTONS, BUTTONS WHO’S GOT THE BUTTONS?

Our crafters are looking for any buttons 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch size for the kitchen towels they make.  If you have buttons that you’re willing to donate, please bring them to the Senior Center.  Thank you very much for your generosity.
