Holden Inclusive Park

Welcome to the Holden Inclusive Park
Informational Webpage!

The Holden Inclusive Park Committee is working to design and build a multigenerational, inclusive community park in town. The new park will be located at 1 Holden Street behind the Light Department, and it will include inclusive infrastructure and equipment to ensure all children and family-members can play together, regardless of any mobility challenges they may experience. Park elements will include two fully-inclusive playgrounds (for ages 2-5 and 5-12), an adult fitness lot, a sports field with accessible surfacing, a walking path with benches available, a combat & wounded veterans space, a typical basketball court, a mini basketball court with lower hoops, and a shade pavilion with accessible picnic tables. The new park will be a place for all residents of our community and surrounding towns to connect and engage in inclusive and intergenerational play. Goals of the Inclusive Park

To Provide Recreational Facility for Everyone Regardless of Age or Ability

To Foster
Inclusive Play

To Encourage Intergenerational Play

Samantha Curtis, a student at WPI, has been working with the Holden Inclusive Park Committee to better understand how the new park can best meet the needs of all Holden community members. She created an online survey to gain a general understanding of community-member's experiences with inclusive and intergenerational play and their knowledge about the new park (289 responses). Additionally, she conducted six interviews with community stakeholders to better understand how the new park can best provide new opportunities for their families. Summary findings from the town surveys and interviews can be found using the navigation menus above.
