MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS

Members Present: Rosemary Scully and James Dillon
1. Acceptance of Minutes: approve the minutes of the January 28, 2019 meeting.
2. Real Estate/Personal Property Abatement Applications:
Rose has finished inspections. Board reviewed 7 applications.
Entered executive session to review and make decisions on abatements.
Decisions were reached on the seven (7) real estate properties reviewed today. Letters and/or certificates will be prepared and mailed to the property owners.
3. Personnel:
Interviews are completed for the 25 hours position: part time assessor clerk/data collector. Advertising on the Town Facebook page resulted in many qualified candidates. Amy Evanowski was promoted to the full time Senior Assessor Clerk position at the beginning of January.
4. Motor Vehicle Excise:
2019: issued February 12, 2019, 16,770 bills $2,244,817.50
2018: issued February 12, 2019, 427 bills $ 17,091.11
5. Supplemental Real Estate Tax: scheduled to be mailed on March 26, 2019.
6. Income and Expense Notices: mailed 160 total on February 21, 2019
7. Chapter Land:
50 Wood Street: application to amend 61A to 61 for fy21
619 South Street: letter to remain in chapter use after sale
8. Disabled Veteran: Letter presented from individual expressing concerns on differences in exemption dollar amounts. The amounts and guidelines are determined from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Meeting adjourned 9:00am. Next meeting to be scheduled in April.
