BOARD OF HEALTH

Meeting Minutes

October 22, 2013

Memorial Town Hall

MEMBERS PRESENT:          Mark Johnson, Mary Ricker, Bruce Pennino

OTHERS PRESENT:               Andrea Crete, Board of Health Agent, Kerry Clark, CMRPHA

                                               Debra Sciascia, Recording Secretary

M. Johnson called the Board of Health Meeting to order at 5:00 PM

RESERVE ON SALISBURY:  The Board discussed waiving the pool fee this year.

B. Penino motioned to approve.  M. Johnson seconded.  All in favor.

DENTAL HEALTH:  B. Pennino wanted to know if there was any information available regarding coverage for dental health, and does Mass Health have anything available?

Kerry Clark will bring up the dental health topic with D. Brindisi and the Alliance.

LYME DISEASE:  B. Pennino brought in an article by Mark Blazis, from the T&G Worcester paper 10/8/13, regarding fishing and hunting safety in the woods.  It has been confirmed that there is an epidemic in the New England states.

Kerry Clark can get a chart of confirmed cases of lyme disease.

B. Pennino would like John Scannell, DCR District Superintendent, or someone to contact regarding information.

M. Johnson said there are avenues to get information out to the public.

OTHER BUSINESS:

• Tobacco Regulations:  Will be on the next meetings agenda, or when Karyn is available.  D. Sciascia will email the Board a copy of the draft.
• Strategic Planning Committee:  The meeting was in Holden.  Strategic Plan is needed to get accredited.
• Staffing Changes:  The Alliance is trying to rotate agents within the towns.  They hope to set hours for office coverage.  Board discussion.
