HOLDEN BOARD OF SELECTMEN

MEETING MINUTES

JUNE 1, 2015

 

6:15PM                                                                                               Starbard Building

 

 

Members Present:  Chairman Jeremy Kurtz, Anthony Renzoni, Tim Ethier, Kenneth O’Brien

 

Members Absent:  Robert Lavigne

 

Others Present:            Jacquelyn Kelly, Town Manager

                                    Elizabeth Fotos, Recording Secretary

 

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kurtz at 6:15PM. 

 

Chairman Kurtz thanked Ms. Eileen Charbonneau for her interest in becoming part of the Agricultural Commission.

 

Ms. Charbonneau stated that she had become interested in joining the Ag Com through Jonathan Heart.  She stated that she was very interested in gardening and in Environmental protection. 

 

Sel. Renzoni stated that Ms. Charbonneau was very active in the Community Garden Group.

 

Motion by Sel. Renzoni, seconded by Sel. Ethier it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPOINT MS. EILEEN CHARBONNEAU TO THE AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION FOR A TERM ENDING NOVEMBER 2, 2016.

 

Ms Kelly explained that Ms. Charbonneau was filling a spot in the Agricultural Commission of someone that had resigned and that this particular position expired November 2, 2016 at which time she could be reappointed for a three year term.

 

Sel. O’Brien thanked Ms. Charbonneau for participating in the Ag Com; he stated the Town relies on volunteer participation.

 

Chairman Kurtz thanked Mr. Steve D’Aquila for his interest in becoming part of the Agricultural Commission. He asked him to give a little background as to why he was interested in joining.

 

Mr. D’Aquila stated that he had been in business in Town for over 22 years was an avid gardener, and liked all things agricultural. 

 

Sel. Renzoni stated that Mr. D’Aquila had originally come in for the work with the Community Garden and had also been very involved with the St. Mary’s project.

 

Sel. Ethier stated that he had met Mr. D’Aquila a few years ago when he received the Good Neighbor Award.  

 

Sel. O’Brien stated that farmers and residential neighbors were coming in very close proximately of one another and he was hopeful that the Ag Com could work with these groups to broker resolutions in the event it was needed. 

 

Ms. Denise Cummings, Ag Com Chairman was present at the meeting.  She stated this was something that they had done in the past with working with the Board of Health and that that she ha reached out to let people know that they were there and ready to help. 

 

Motion by Sel. Renzoni, seconded by Sel. Ethier, it was UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO APPOINT STEVE D’AQUILA TO THE AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION FOR A TERM ENDING NOVEMBER 2016. 

 

Ms. Cummings thanked the Board for meeting with them and thanked them for their support of the policy change regarding 61A land in April of 2015.  She stated the next thing that the Ag Com would like to work towards would be establishing a fund so that when 61A land became available they had funds that could be allocated towards purchasing of the land. 

 

Sel. Ethier thanked Ms. Cummings for bringing that up and stated that he agreed with her thoughts. 

 

Chairman Kurtz adjourned the meeting to the regular meeting at Memorial Hall.
