Stage III Mandatory Water Ban Cancelled; Seasonal Water Use Restrictions in Place
Based on current trends in the short-term drought conditions, the Department of Public Works is removing the Stage III Mandatory Water Ban immediately. At the same time, the DPW is enacting its standard seasonal water use restrictions (please see attached flyer). While conditions have improved greatly, Holden is still located quite closely to the edge of the abnormally dry areas of the state per the latest US Drought Monitor. Additionally, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is still maintaining a Drought Advisory for all of Massachusetts, except for Berkshire County. Also, while the end of March and the start of April were wet, things have been drying out quickly. Unfortunately, it will not take much for the drought to return. We will continue to monitor things accordingly.
