Home Cooked Meal

Louise thanked our guest chefs for our Home Cooked Meal on January 21st.  Members of Holden Grange prepared a meal of home-made chicken and rice soup, assorted sandwiches with a brownie sundae for dessert.  Moneys they collected for the lunch were donated back to the Senior Center.

Zentangle

Using special pens and paper, artist and teacher, Mary Shepherd will guide us through an introductory session of Zentangle on Wednesday, February 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Have fun, unwind and create your own art with this specific method of doodling.  All materials provided for the class.  Cost of the class will be $2.00/person.  (If you wish to take a Zentangle kit home, they will be available for $10.00.)

Budget

Louise passed out a copy of our FY16 proposed budget.  The major difference in this year’s budget is that we’ve requested an extra $500.00 in program money.   Our budget hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Light Department.  If you’re available that evening and can to come to support our budget, Louise would be very grateful.  It’s important for the Finance Committee to see support for the budget.  Louise will be informing the Friends Board at their meeting in March and encouraging them to attend as well.

Numbers from January

City of Four Concert – 63

Home Cooked Meal (with Grange) – 54

Transportation Statistics

As we are halfway through the year, Louise provided the board members with statistics from the transportation area.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Louise or Naomi.

Next Meeting

In that Sue is not available for the March meeting, the Council decided to forego the March meeting and meet in April.

OLD BUSINESS

Marilyn reported that the Kids in the Kommunity group are getting a lot of calls and the program is working well.  Peter offered the possibility of establishing a call-in number that seniors can call to request help.

NEW BUSINESS

Sue suggested setting up another sub-committee to work on the needs assessment and ask Rita to be a part of the committee.  It should come from the council and not the Friends, although the committee can go to the Friends for funding.  Sue Sullivan, Rick Mansfield and Maureen Locke agreed to serve on the committee.

CITIZENS ADDRESS

None.

ADJOURNMENT

It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 a.m.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. at the Holden Senior Center.

Respectfully submitted,

Maureen Buffone
