Director’s Report

Before/After School Programs – Denise reported that all schools are at maximum capacity with 52 children enrolled at each site with the exception of Dawson.  Dawson Before school program is down 3 and the afternoon is down 1.  These spots will be quickly filled from the waiting list.

Adult Programs – A new session of adult classes will start, or has already started, this month.  The program include: Barre-Bell – 11 registered; Butts and Guts – 9 enrolled; CCYO – 20 registered; Gentle Hatha Yoga – 12 registered; HathaYoga – 23 combined enrollment; Rope Burn, Strength and Core – 6 registered; Unwind and Flow Yoga – 12 registered.   We are offering two, 1 night workshops this month – Make Your Own Scrub – 5 registered;  Adult Holiday Necklace – 1 currently register (class is scheduled for 11/29  at 7:00 p.m.).  A Wreath Makin class is scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 5th at 7:00 p.m., with 7 currently registered.  A Holiday Candlelight Yoga night is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8, and there are currently 4 registered.

Children’s Classes – Teen Jewelry Making class was held last Thursday with 9 teens registered.  Tiny Tot Time (interactive musical activities) is scheduled for the end of the month, for children ages 2 – 5.  This will run for 4-weeks on Mondays and is a drop-in program.

Miscellaneous:   Included are the result of a survey we conducted in October.  There is interest in seeing more classes offered on Saturday and Sunday, along with more Teen classes and more class information sent via email.  There were many compliments, mostly around the Before/After School Programs and the pool.  Many complained about the increase in the cost for a non-resident pool pass and because the pool closes before Labor Day.

Santa’s arrival is Saturday, December 2nd at 5:00 p.m.  Police, Fire, DPW and Light Departments have been notified, as well as Santa.  It appears there will not be a Winter Festival this year.  Lisa will contact the 1st Congregational Church for permission to use the meeting room and Erin will pick up the key on Friday December 1st.  Set up time is 3:15.  Liam Sullivan, an Eagle Scout candidate, rebuilt and upholstered the Santa chair for his project.  It looks great, more sturdy, safe and secure for Santa.

Motion made by Erin seconded by Lisa to adjourn at 8:03 p.m.  The next Recreation Committee meeting will be held on January 9, 2018 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Recreation Office.
