Director’s Report

Summer:

Denise handed out a packet of general information about the summer. She went over the numbers regarding pool attendance, passes sold, number of registered program participants and revenue, etc.  Denise commented that we did very well between day passes and splash parties.  She added that the staff is a group of outstanding young adults, they did a great job and maintained every issue in a professional matter. It was a good summer all in all.

Denise went over an issue with a parent that requested that her child’s caretaker be admitted to the pool without being charged. It was resolved to everyone’s satisfaction, and the following will be added to future brochures:

“No additional user fee or charge is required to make the Town’s facilities, programs, services or activities available to persons with disabilities. Please inform the Recreation Director if you, or a family member, require the attendance of a qualified or licensed personal care attendant”

MISCELLANEOUS:

Denise purchased mirrors and blinds and had them installed in the fitness studio.

They are also looking to install barres as well.

Denise is receiving quotes for the basketball court at the Light Department and the tennis court at Rice. The courts need to have numerous cracks filled, and be painted and seal-coated. This work should be done every 5 years to extend the life of the courts. Denise added that the quotes have been higher this year than expected but she is still waiting for one more quote.
