HEARING

KAREN CLICKNER                                                                                          CASE NO. SP 1409

The Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on September 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall in the Town Hall, 1196 Main Street, Holden, MA on the Application of Karen Clickner for property located at 63 Highland Street for a SPECIAL PERMIT for a home occupation to practice Naturopathic Medicine in a Holistic Clinic.

Members in attendance:  R. Spakauskas, R. Fraser, J. Deignan and R. Butler.

The Chairman called the hearing to order.  The secretary read the Application and Findings of Fact.

Attorney Leo McCabe, representing the applicant, addressed the Board.  His client currently has a practice in Brookline, which she would like to downsize.  He explained the type of medicine his client practices.  She treats her patients without drugs and advises them based on diet, herbs and lifestyle.  She has many referrals from primary care physicians whose patients would like to have a natural option and be treated for their problems without drugs.  Atty. McCabe submitted an abutters petition and a citizens petition supporting this application.

R. Butler asked the number of patients that would be on site at one time.  Ms. Clickner said maybe two; she cannot see more than six in one day.

J. Deignan asked if parking was allowed in front of her residence.  She answered no.  However, she has ample room in her driveway.  She has a 3-car garage but only has one vehicle.

R. Spakauskas asked about hours of operation.  She said her eventual goal is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Since there were no further comments or questions, the public hearing was closed at 7:20 p.m.

The Board voted unanimously to grant the special permit with the following condition:  1)  Hours of operation are limited to Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
