Main Street Drainage Improvements

The Department of Public Works (DPW) has awarded a contract to improve the drainage system in the area of Holt Rd., Williams St., Bancroft Rd. Powers Rd. and Boyden Rd. The project will be constructed in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) drainage improvements within Main St. MassDOT’s drainage system is connected to the Town’s drainage system and must be upgraded in conjunction to successfully complete the project. The goal of the project is to upgrade the existing drainage capacity and improve the water quality. A copy of the plans can be viewed at the link above.

The project could begin as soon as mid-March, weather dependent. The expected duration of the construction is approximately two (2) months. J.H. Lynch & Sons Inc. of Millbury, MA is contracted to perform the construction for the Town’s portion of the drainage improvements. The Town has obtained consultants to help manage the construction and contractors, but will also have DPW presence on site on a regular basis. The expectation is that the roads will be temporarily paved this year, with a final curb-to-curb resurfacing occurring next year.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact Patrick Wood, PE, Senior Civil Engineer at (508) 210-5550 or by email at pwood@holdenma.gov.
